| The Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network (GIHSN) initiative started in 2012 as a network to focus on serious influenza cases in order to fill knowledge gaps in the epidemiology of severe influenza disease. The GIHSN is a public-private partnership between Sanofi Pasteur, Fundación para el Fomento de la Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de la Comunitat Valenciana (FISABIO), Fondation Mérieux, and several coordinating sites affiliated with national health authorities.
